Riverbank Farm is a 45-acre certified organic farm nourished by the fertile bottomland soil of the Shepaug River in picturesque Roxbury, Conn. Farmer David Blyn moved to the farm in 1989 in hopes of running a carpentry business, but soon began farming full-time in 1991.
In the summer of 1996, while delivering produce during a full moon in Long Island, Laura McKinney met Dave. After completing her sustainable agriculture studies at UC Santa Cruz, Laura knew she wanted to farm but never anticipated settling in the East Coast. Soon, their love of farming and of each other blossomed into a bountiful farm.
Through hailstorms, deer damage, late nights, unpredictable weather patterns, pest and weed outbreaks, Dave and Laura have learned to build a resilient farming operation and truly enjoy the harvest. They now have three daughters – Lily, Alice and Stella – who add love and laughter to each farm day.
